Philippe Jaroussky trägt zwei der Stücke live vor. Damit kommen einige Länder zusammen: Leon ist gebürtige US-Amerikanerin, lebt in Venedig, liebt Händel, der Deutsch-Brite war und sicher auch gern Jaroussky, der wiederum Franzose ist, gelauscht hätte.

21.40 Uhr: Die gesungene Laudatio auf Bestsellerautorin Donna Leon kommt vom Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. Der Franzose hat ein besonderes Ritual, wie er der B.Z. verrät: „Ich muss vor jedem Auftritt bügeln. Ich bügele meine Hemden selber und kann dabei am besten entspannen.“ Bügeln statt Sprechen, so bleiben die schönsten Töne seiner Stimme für die Bühne!

Philippe laroussky fait le point :« J’ai eu une chance indécente. j’en suis conscient. l’ai réalisé mes rêves. comme chanter avec Cecilia Bartoli, créer mon ensemble Artaserse et enregistrer les dis-ques que je voulais. le viens d’une famille de la classe moyenne de Sartrouville. Si un prof de collège n’avait pas repéré que j’étais doué en musique. je n’en serais pas là. le me suis mis au violon. l’étais très motivé. Mes parents m’ont soutenu. Au mieux, je me rêvais proL.. » Pas de sélection intimidante à l’Académie Jarrousky. Le choix se fait sur la motivation et un niveau de vie ne permettant pas de payer des cours de piano. No-ne vit de ménages et de gardes de personnes âgées. Sa fille Anna, 9 ans, bénéficie de cours de piano gratuits à I’Académie, qui lui a aussi prêté un instrument offert par Yamaha. « Je n’aurais jamais imaginé qu’elle serait prise. Ni qu’on mettrait un piano chez nous… le ne savais pas qui était Philippe laroussky !» […]

Jaroussky has been in a relationship for more than ten years. He does not attribute his gay fan base to the fact that he is gay
himself, but rather to the fact that the classical art has such significant gay support. It is about the classical culture and not
about the singer’s orientation. This hasn’t stopped him from doing his bit for charities though. Philippe has been involved
with the IRIS association, that helps patients with primary immune-deficiencies, as well as LINK that supports the rapid
AIDS screening activities carried out by the AIDES association.

So what’s next? Well, Philippe has talked openly about his interest to do some classic French songs by artists such as Brel
and Piaf, but also possibly venturing into electronic music. With artists such as Adam Lopez easily crossing over into the
mainstream arena with head voices, Philippe has the opportunity to really extract the best of both worlds. […]
